RescueVac Helps Free South Bend Worker

A construction worker trapped in a hole July 3, 2013 is safe and sound today, thanks in large part to the RescueVac.

At around 2 pm, the man become lodged in a pile of caved-in dirt while working at a construction site on South Bend’s near northwest side.

Firefighters and first responders freed the man using the Rescue Vac System.

After he was finally extricated from the hole, he was taken to the hospital and checked for precautionary reasons.

Supervisors at Memorial Hospital say that the man was never admitted to the hospital but received treatment in the emergency room and had been released.

He is expected to make a full recovery.
